September 2, 2005 Dear Prayer Warriors,

Greetings in the name of our precious Savior! Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Praise the Lord, my travels have gone well! The trip to Colorado was a blessing as my parents and I were able to visit First Baptist Church of Victor, my Dad's hometown. We enjoyed the fellowship there. My sister and her family joined us for three days, and we visited many places related to our heritage. It was refreshing.

Now I am back in California and have had tests and doctor appointments. Praise the Lord, everything is going well! The only small concern was a slightly low blood platelet count. Dr. Frakes wants to check that again mid-September and may be changing my medicine from Tamoxifen to Arimidex. Please pray that if she does, that I'll be able to get that in Peru.

Efata Baptist Church in Iquitos celebrated their 20th anniversary last weekend. I have not heard any details of how the special meetings went but trust a good number of the deaf attended and were challenged by the preaching of God's Word. Little Alexander, whom I mentioned in my presentation, has not been attending services, but Lorena, another student who trusted Christ, has been going. Jennifer, who went down to Iquitos this summer with a group from her church, was blessed by her time and ministry there among the deaf. The children at the Efata School for the Deaf are doing very well in communicating and took part in a retreat. There are some concerns over paperwork for their exoneration from taxes. Please pray that they will be able to get these taken care of.

Lord willing, my return to Peru will be timed to coincide with the visit to Iquitos of my ABWE South American administrator, Bob Trout, the middle of October. Pray for wisdom and for the Lord's will to be done in our meeting with the leadership of the deaf work there. Pray that I'll have peace in trusting the Lord during this time. He has all the answers, and I need to trust Him for that.

In the meantime, I do have one more church to report to:

9/25 Lighthouse Baptist Church, Pleasanton

Also, I trust to visit a couple more individual supporters and family members. Pray for wisdom in planning this trip and getting my flight back to Iquitos. Gas prices are certainly high right now.

As you probably have been, let us keep praying for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. My heart goes out to those who have such desperate needs at this time.

May the Lord bless you and encourage you today. Keep looking up!

Your sister in Christ,
Lynn Porter
