Dear Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from Iquitos! Thank you for your prayers. It's hard to believe that so much time has gone by since my last update.

Praise the Lord, I have been able to pick up some of the deaf girls on Sundays with the Nissan! Susan, Patricia, Pamela, and Sarvia have been excited to attend church again. We also met a new little deaf girl, Joselyn, who is only 4 years old. She and her mother, Judith, both came to church one Sunday. Judith is interested in having Joselyn attend our school next year. Pray that we'll be able to get the Nissan in better working order. It has a habit of stalling in the middle of the road sometimes. The deaf children who are coming are in with the hearing children in Sunday School so I have been interpreting Dee Donaldson's lesson for them.

There have been a good number of deaf attending services lately. Pray that they will continue to come and have spiritual understanding of God's Word. Pray for Pastor Abraham as he prepares messages to feed them spiritually. There are so many needs and problems among the deaf - alcoholism, fornication, gossip, extreme poverty, to name a few. Multiply this among the hearing population as well, and it can be very discouraging. In ourselves, we are powerless to help them change. Thank God, He is all-powerful and cares very much for them! I need to keep remembering this and trusting in the Lord. Please keep us before the Lord that we may continually depend on Him to do the work His way.

Please pray for some health concerns as well. Michael Cassidy, Patrick and Gina's son, had an emergency appendectomy on Thanksgiving Day. He continues to have fever and pain so may have more infection. Please pray for his recovery. Also, with the extreme heat of late, I have developed a bad rash that has gotten infected. My insomnia is back as well. Pray for healing and strength.

We had a good Thanksgiving, celebrating it with a group of missionary friends. I trust you are finding many reasons to give thanks to the Lord for His many blessings. Now the Christmas season is fast approaching. Here in Peru it is also the end of the school year, so there are many activities. Pray we will bring honor to the Lord as we share with others concerning His coming to earth to be our Savior. Pray, too, that we will find quiet times to reflect and make good plans for the coming year. May our Lord's name be glorified! Take care and keep looking up! May the joy of the Lord be our strength!

Your sister in Christ,
Lynn Porter
