Dear Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from Iquitos! Thank you for your prayers. The Lord is working, and I keep learning more about leaning on Him.

Praise the Lord, things are looking a little more positive at Efata! Pastor Abraham has conceded to my helping in the deaf ministry but with severe restrictions in regards to working with the deaf he has put under discipline. He has asked me not to visit them but to concentrate on the new deaf. I can do discipleship but not until January and then only at the church. The Lord is bringing the deaf to me and also back into the church. Please continue to pray for reconciliation. God can do great things in response to our prayers. Lord willing, tomorrow I will be visiting some of the young deaf girls and inviting them to church. The Nissan Bluebird is ready to go, and I am looking forward to bringing the deaf girls to the proclamation of the Gospel.

My contact with the oncologist went well, and I have started spending some time in the waiting room at the hospital, sharing and praying with people whose lives have been interrupted by cancer. The oncology department is open Mon., Wed., and Fri. so those mornings I spend about an hour giving out tracts and talking with those who come to see the doctor. People have been pretty receptive. One lady, Marilyn, has surgery on Tuesday and I promised to visit her in the hospital next week. Pray, too, for Pastor Abraham's mother who is due for surgery in the coming days. He has gone to help his aging parents and will not be back until close to the end of the month.

Short-termers, Andy and Carol Patton, have 6 children in 6 different grades. I have started spending a couple of hours each morning to help in their homeschool and am helping Sarah with her Spanish. Darlene has asked for my help in teaching Old Testament Survey at the Bible institute so I will be teaching a short overview of the books of Micah and Malachi as we come to the end of the school year. I've also had good opportunities to share with our neighborhood children. Darlene played the organ for our little class Sun. afternoon and they were thrilled. This week Dee Donaldson and I balanced the treasury books through the month of September. So there has been plenty to keep me busy. :-)

Thank you again for your prayers and for your notes of encouragement. I am not able to do a lot of personal notes because the internet here is terribly slow. Something more to test my patience. Take care and keep looking up!

Your sister in Christ,
Lynn Porter
