Dear Prayer Warriors,
Greetings from Peru! Praise the Lord for His working in lives through His
Word and through prayer! Things that six months ago seemed impossible are
coming true in my life and ministry. All the praise belongs to our Lord,
Who works things out in His time, according to His perfect will.
First of all, I have been asked to help out at Efata school for the deaf,
working the hours that I am able, to help Joyci teach the new students.
Pastor Abraham and Patsy are teaching grades 1 - 5. Joyci and I will be
preparing the children for first grade. Joyci is deaf herself so this will
be a great help for these children, as she speaks their language. Another
blessing from having Joyci teaching at the school is that she will now be
able to continue her Source of Light Bible studies with me on Monday
afternoons. :-)
Also, praise the Lord with me for the profession of faith of Luis! He is
the hearing boyfriend of Lesly, one of our deaf believers. They are also
talking of getting married, another answer to prayer. Luis has been on my
prayer list for several years, and I had a good opportunity to witness to
him earlier this month. He came to church March 11 and made his decision
with Pastor Abraham that night.
We thank the Lord, too, for good meetings with our administrator, Bob Trout,
and his wife, Lynne. We have a little better idea where we are headed, but
do have a great need for more missionaries to come help us. Our needs are
in the areas of leadership training, teachers for the deaf school,
disciplers for the deaf church, church planters for the middle to upper
class people of the city (this is a request from our Peruvian brethren),
sports evangelism among the youth of Iquitos, and music teachers. And, if
the Lord provides missionaries for all these ministries, we'll also need
teachers for their children. Will you join me in praying to the Lord of the
harvest to send laborers our way?
Right now I am in Lima, seeing the oncologist and getting tested for any
reoccurrence of cancer. So far both the bloodwork for tumor markers and the
abdominal sonogram have come back negative. Praise the Lord! I have an
appointment with a dermatologist Wednesday to get a second opinion
concerning my rash and then another appointment on Thursday with my Peruvian
oncologist, Claudia Lozada. Lord willing, I will get the green light to
return to Iquitos on Friday. I really want to get back for Saturday when
Pastor Abraham, Patsy, Rich and Dee Donaldson, and I have set aside time to
pray and plan for ministry opportunities this year at Efata Baptist Church.
I also miss my Sunday School class. Our number is growing!
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. May the Lord God bless you as
He has been blessing me! Keep looking up!
Your sister in Christ
,
Lynn
