Dear Prayer Warriors,
Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement. I thank the Lord for
the many miles of safety along the way as I traveled to the San Francisco
Bay area, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. You have been so kind and generous
along the way.
Right now I am in Pennsylvania at the ABWE missionary enrichment conference.
The classes on Biblical counseling, taught by Dr. Robert Lehman, have been
a real blessing to me personally, and I trust it will be useful in my
ministry for the future. It was interesting that in the beginning session
of the course, he defined counseling as "Discipling people to use their
"active thinking" in order to challenge and change their "habitual thinking"
so that they may more fully experience who they are in Christ." As you
know, my main ministry has been in discipleship, so I was very happy to look
at counseling as a form of discipleship. I have had opportunity to receive
counsel myself, not only from Dr. Lehman, but also from my mission
administrators. So I face the future with more confidence in our great
Lord.
Lord willing, tomorrow I head back to California. There are still a few
churches I get to visit and at least one more to be scheduled. Upcoming
meetings include the following:
July 24 Faith Baptist Church, Atascadero, CA
July 31 First Baptist Church, Victor, CO
Aug. 10 Bethel Baptist Church, Torrance, CA
It is almost time to have another check-up on the cancer. Praise the Lord,
I am feeling well and trust all the check-ups will be routine.
Things in Peru remain pretty much the same. There is a mechanic down there
right now getting my car, the Nissan Bluebird, back in working order. Thank
you, First Baptist Church of Cambria, for your special offering for this
project. The Lord continues to open doors for returning to Iquitos, and I
will continue to walk through them. Isn't it wonderful that He knows and
plans our future?!
Finally, we praise the Lord that Patrick Cassidy came through his heart
surgery well on the 13th of July. Now please pray for continued healing so
he can his family can return to Iquitos and keep ministering to those who
need Christ along the Amazon River.
Thank you all again for being a part of my team and praying for me. May the
Lord be your Strength and Joy today.
Your sister in Christ,
Lynn Porter
