Dear Prayer Warriors,

Happy New Year 2006! Thank you so much for your faithful prayers! The Lord has been answering, and it is my pleasure to share with you what He has been been doing.

In regards to my health, I am doing much, much better. Allergy meds are doing the job of clearing up the rash and other problems I did not even realize could be an allergic reaction. Praise the Lord!

My visits to the oncology department at the hospital were suspended during the Christmas holidays, but I have begun going again on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Pray for good opportunities to share a Gospel witness with the folks in the waiting room and for hearts to be prepared.

My relationship with Pastor Abraham and Patsy has gotten better every week it seems. We had good discussions concerning the ministry for this coming year, and they are excited about the outreach to the deaf along the Amazon River planned for Jan. 2007. Pray that we can share our vision with the deaf believers here in town and that they will take it as their vision as well, to reach out to others who also need the Gospel.

With the beginning of the New Year came the beginning of my teaching the Source of Bible lessons to the deaf once more. As it is set up right now, I am at Efata Baptist Church from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Mondays to teach those who come. The first Monday 5 deaf came and 4 hearing children of deaf parents. Last Monday there were 9 deaf and 3 hearing children. Pray for wisdom in organizing that time well and for spiritual understanding for all of us. I've already talked to Pastor Abraham about adding an afternoon at my house for those who live in that part of town.

With the end of the year came the beginning of the summer vacation. The children who live in my neighborhood have gotten interested in studying the Source of Light Bible lessons. Marcia has already completed the children's series and earned her certificate. Several children also participated in the Christmas program of the Divine Redeemer Baptist Church and have been attending Sunday School there. Pray that they will continue because a Mormon missionary has been visiting and has invited them to her church. Pray they will come to the Truth and that their eyes will be opened to see the deceit of Satan. We have an enemy, and he is at work. We can never relax our guard!

Lord willing, tomorrow I will be traveling to Arequipa for a Bible conference and seminar. My going is a last-minute surprise. I really wanted to go but wasn't sure I should with the new year just getting under way. Pastor Abraham assured me that it would be fine and thanked me for taking them into consideration in my decision-making. With one of my colleagues having to cancel her plans to go at the last minute, it was the Lord giving me the opportunity to go. Please pray for safety in travel for Darlene and me as we leave tomorrow. Our return will be Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, Lord willing. The seminar we are studying is "Situational Leadership." I am looking forward to good fellowship with the coastal Peru missionaries.

May the Lord bless you richly in this new year 2006 as you serve Him. Keep looking up!

Your sister in Christ,
Lynn Porter
