Dear Prayer Warriors,

Happy Thanksgiving! Praise the Lord, He is always with us, even in the difficult times!

As I mentioned last month, Pastor Seafin had stepped down to work on getting his family back together. Since then, he has been asked to step down permanently. Missionary Joe Kotvas from Lima came to inquire into some accusations that have been made against Serafin here, and found them to have a basis of truth. At the very least, he has not been careful of his testimony and been caught in compromising situations, nor has he been careful with the truth nor with funds entrusted to his care. At the worst, he is immoral, a liar, and a thief. His testimony with the deaf here is not good, as they believe the worst. Our work is cut out for us as we seek to finish out the school year at the deaf school and continue ministering to the deaf in the church. The new pastor, Abraham Cenepo, is doing what he can but needs our continuing prayers.

Tonight we have a meeting with the parents and teachers of the deaf school. Pray for wisdom and understanding among us.

The reason I am writing to you from this email is because my computer has quit on me, and I don't feel I even have the time to wait for a computer technician to come fix it for me this week. We had field council meetings on Tuesday and of course, today is Thanksgiving! Our new missionaries, Patrick and Gina Cassidy and their family have arrived and are cooking the turkey they kindly brought over from Lima. Each of us is contributing something to the meal, and I plan to get as much fellowship as I can, since everyone will be leaving for other parts for Christmas.

We have only a few more days of class left in the school year. The Bible institute graduation will be held December 8. Short-termer Jennifer Kalnbach has scheduled the Efata Christmas pageant for Dec. 13 and 14, before she leaves us on Dec. 15. Pray for positive outreach and blessing through these events.

I have a new website, thanks to Wayne McMorran of Arroyo Grande. The address is "http://members.tripod.com/~berean_bible_church/porter/" Since my computer is down, I do not have my complete list of addresses. If you know of someone who didn't get this, please pass it on. Lord willing, I'll be sending out a regular prayer letter soon, and will ask for addresses then, too, in case I can't get my old computer running. Pray for me as I am feeling a lot of pressure from the whole situation at Efata.

Take care and keep looking up!

Your sister in Christ,

Lynn
