Dear Prayer Warriors,

Greetings once more from the jungles of Peru! No, we did not even feel the earthquake that took place on the coast. We are praying for the folks over there that lost homes and churches and have members of their families who were hurt or died. The brethren here are seeking to get together clothing and offerings to send to our brethren in need. It’s all a part of God’s family working together.

Thank you for praying for the ministry team from Calvary Baptist Church in Oceanside, CA, that was here Aug. 7 – 16. Praise the Lord for His protection and for those who made decisions for Christ as a result of their ministry! 45 children responded to the invitation to trust Christ as their personal Savior, most of them in Iquitos. Pray we can make sure they will be followed up and discipled. About 7 men made salvation decisions in the river towns, and two believers rededicated their lives to the Lord. Those were the public decisions. God only knows the work He continues to do in the hearts of all of us who were involved. I enjoyed very much having the Peru Team here and shed a few tears when they left. Thanks for coming, Team!

Now as I get back on schedule with my Source of Light classes, teaching at the Bible institute, and helping the churches using the Source of Light materials, please pray that I may do it with joy and wisdom from the Lord. Last Sunday night, my two neighbors that have been going with me to church, Aleyda and Paula, asked if they could have a Bible study with me during the week. I hope to do that with them starting tonight. Again, I would ask for great wisdom. In myself I am inadequate, but in Christ, God has given me all I need to be able to minister and serve Him. Thanks for your intercession on my behalf.

Please pray, too, for the continued preparations for the missions trip to the deaf along the Amazon River planned for January 2008. Lord willing, I will be meeting with the team in Chiclayo, Peru, at the end of September or early October. Pray we will find the deaf and that they will be willing to come with us.

In all things, pray that our great God will be glorified and that many will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. He is worthy of all praise and adoration!

Keep looking up!
Your sister in Christ,
Lynn Porter
